The files below contain
two-part settings (high/low voices) of the music of the Liturgy of the
Presanctified Gifts. The melodies are those of Serbian chant with
side by side settings of each hymn in both English and Church
Slavonic. The primary sources for the Church Slavonic settings
include both the Opste Pojanje and Osmoglasnik of Stevan Mokranjac, and
the Triod of Branko Cvejich. The English adaptations are largely those
found in the Anthology of Serbian Chant (2006).
Although it is notated in the treble clef, the lower part is more
suited to a Bass-Baritone voice but could also be sung by an
Alto. The upper voice —the chant— can be sung by either a Tenor,
Baritone, Mezzo Soprano or a Soprano. Although most of the
chants are notated in the key of Fmajor/minor, they can be freely
transposed to a suitable register for the singers.
