The Beatitudes
In the Eight Tones - Serbian Chant
Four part SATB settings - English text
(Adaptation, harmonization and arrangements by Nikola Resanovic)
In Memoriam
Lydia Lekas
Godmother and Friend
Eternal Memory
These can be sung with or without the troparia inserted between the verses. The G major transpositions of tones 3 & 7 are the preferred settings; F major transpositions are an alternative and provide a lower tessitura for the tenors. Tones 6, 4, 2, & 1 are easier; tone 3 & 7 are slightly more melismatic andfeature more harmonic and tonal contrast. Tone 8 is the most elaborate and contrapuntal. Tone 5, although syllabic, is likely the most difficult because of its unique harmonic and melodic characteristics.
